   Absolutely this, but also: A 43 year old woman would have been 13 when Doom came out. 16 when Quake came out. 19 when Unreal Tournament came out.

   That's the golden age of FPS right there, which makes me think that @VampiresAndRobots's colleague is hugely ageist and/or knows nothing about gaming history.

   Like someone's going to grow up on that lot and suddenly give up the hobby?

     @VampiresAndRobots not a 40+ woman, but 'women over 40 don't play games' is absolutely an opinion that leads to statements like 'hidden object games and match-3 puzzles don't count'.
