Lambshank :blobcatAlien: (wasabi@raru.re)'s status on Monday, 04-Dec-2023 11:47:43 JST Lambshank :blobcatAlien: @freemo It's purposefully made this way. French used to be an inclusive and much simpler language, but the issue with having white dudes with huge ego and an hypocritically elitist-mindset running the country for centuries, that's pretty much what we get. That's mostly because of how wrongfully interpreted our old literature is. We have a bunch of memes showing the difference between the meaning of books, poems and theater scripts given by "scholars" and the meaning theorized by actual book writers and historians.
But that's a whole debate that could go on for ages, even french people don't know what they want. Sometimes, there are people debating for weeks about whether we should remove a letter from a word or not, some people arguing that it would make the word easier to learn for people who aren't native speakers as well as making it more easily understandable, while others would argue that it's "denaturing our language" (which is such a dumb take, knowing that the whole purpose of a language is to help people communicate as well as being adapted to usages in society and better convey whatever idea or emotion has to be exchanged, explained or formulated in order for people to understand each other).
