If you ever questioned whether or not we live in an authoritarian surveillance state, try talking to someone on government disability support.

You may not experience a lot of surveillance if you are a right wing terrorist, but Dog help you if you have cancer or cerebral palsy.

Just in case you need motivation to avoid catching a disabling virus.

Nobody is coming to help you, and society will do everything it can to kill you, either through neglect or through active eugenicist policy.

If you don't own your house outright and you end up on disability support. Make no mistake - you are fucked.

This doesn't even begin to touch on the despicably low rates for support and the extreme restrictions on owning any assets if you are receiving support.

Because asking someone if they still have their permanent disability they've had since birth is too easy.

Governments have to punish the economically unproductive for getting dealt a shit hand in life as well.

Unfortunately, that seems to be a thing in many countries/states ... I've heard this very conversation from friends...

"You haven't proven you still require insulin."

"I was literally born with Type 1 Diabetes. There's no cure. I need insulin and I'll need it the rest of my life."

"Yes, but you have to submit regular medical records proving you still need it."

"Umm, what? Unless I happen across literal Jesus of Nazareth ... and in which case, I'll let you know ..."

@PacificNic The cruelty is the point. They would rather waste 10x as much money and in ensuring someone doesn't get a single dime they "don't deserve".

@JessTheUnstill Yep. I've heard similar things from amputees and people with other obviously permanent disabilities. It makes me question the actual purpose of these "audits".

It's petty and disgusting and demonstrably counter-productive. Agencies that audit people on disability support absolutely never recover more than the cost of auditing.

It's all just for show and it's at the cost of autonomy and mental health for society's most vulnerable.

You know what actually has EXCELLENT ROI in terms of audits? Tax audits on the super wealthy.
