     @lain the length is optional and, in the case of lastfm, not included. So we'd have to make a guess, like maybe 5min in those cases.
     
     Me personally, I don't mind looking at someone's scrobble from forever ago as long as it's the most recent

     @lain I mean my fork of Soapbox hazards a guess on if it should show a playing emoji or a pause emoji depending on if the time elapsed exceeded the length of the track since scrobbling, but it doesn’t stop displaying it even if the most recent one is from last year.

     This is because, it’s a personal preference, I didn’t want them to just disappear just because they weren’t very recent. But I’m seeing that other people have an inverse preference. It’s not about how recent it is, it’s about if it’s current, if the user is playing the song right now or at least very recently.

     Maybe we can find some reconciliation between these perspectives. For example, maybe the text can be very prominent, big, with colors that pop out at you when they’re currently listening to it, and then it becomes small, muted, when they aren’t. Think 16pt bold while playing, 8pt barely different from the background color when it was from last week.

     This is of course just brainstorming

     @lain my fork of Pleroma has an optional URL field that just got merged into the PleromaBE. It lets you submit some kind of URL for the source of the song. It could be a YouTube video, SoundCloud, name it. It gets the domain name's favicon and puts it next to the song. If you click it, it takes you to the source URL.

     @lain I did fix the padding but the sizes are the same. Also @hj said he's testy about including foreign favicons in general, which I'm sensitive to, so I might just let this Peter out as being for my instances only. We'll see

     @Kirino rich presence generally displays it under the username as a side effect of displaying the user name at all. I got it from that. You could move to the profile if you wanted, I'm just not going to write the code to do so because I like it the way it is

     Putting it below user name and is one option, and while it's mostly annoying for just music scrobbles and would be great for advertising that, say, you're livestreaming right now or playing CSGO/TF2/whatever and want ppl on fedi to join you. This specific usecase has been on my mind for years now and partly the reason why I care about this feature so much.
     
     Current implementation is in very early stages and has problems, hence why it's in develop and not in stable yet (some admins like me, moon and i think sjw) do merge that feature into their live version.
     
     Working with Neetzsche however has been...... difficult to say the least, and in meantime I am also still working on finishing up notifications improvements, working on 2.6.1 release AND having a dayjob all at the same time, please be patient and wait warmly. 🙏

     I mean, my opinion is it’s not required at all. I just want to make sure if it ever gets forked to an instance I’m on now then it’s as little intrusive as possible.

     Adding too much shit to the post makes me think you’d almost be better formatting like a xenforo forum just to declutter the space.

     @hj how do you feel about trying to guess if the scrobble is "expired" (time now is greater than time of scrobble plus its length), and then making the scrobble become very muted, but not quite invisible, once it is?

     Alright. How about smaller text, but no color change, or maybe just a fairly subtle one? Basically the idea is when it’s active, it pops, takes up space, makes its presence known. When it’s not, it kinda just fades into the background without fully disappearing. That’s what I’m envisioning in my head. I might just try it out on my own and post screenshots to let you look.
