    Charge $10 per second for blocking the box in intersections at rush hour. It’s criminal some fool can hold up several buses of commuters like this. You are making 300 people late! Driving should require a *professional license* and a degree in traffic flow, politeness and efficient fuel use.

    Alternatively outfit all public buses with monster truck wheels. 🤔🤗

      @futurebird I want cameras on buses and a simple policy: block the bus twice and you lose your license for 6 months. 3 times and it’s a year.

      @futurebird @acdha
      Agreed, and if we •are• considering fines for these “injuring the commons” sorts of offenses:

      Fines should be exponential, e.g. $50 first offense, $250 second offense, then $1250, then $6250…and cap it only for lower incomes. People often remark that if the only penalty is a fine, it’s only a law for the poor — but nobody can escape exponential growth.

      @acdha This is better than a fine.

      @sidereal @futurebird @acdha
      Yeah, if you have sufficient gov machinery to do this properly, I’m good with it.

      @inthehands @futurebird @acdha IMO the fair way to deal with fines is to tie them to your yearly income. Finland does this and some Nokia exec got like a €140,000 speeding ticket.
