I don't know mate. Regarding " leftist politics befitting the youthful rebellion in Late Capitalism" you clearly have a different definition of such than I for a wrestler who was made it ubundently clear that he's come out of retirement only for a boat load of money. His union rhetoric is likely only skin deep, like the bucks, as just another gimmick to get smarks to buy his merch.
Part of me still holds out that Cody is waiting to win the WWE title before showing up with it on Dynamite so as to have a legal case to end the 1099 status of sports entertainets, but I'm not holding my breathe.
@gnu2 With respect, I think that's misplaced cynicism. I've written and spoken at length on the evidence to the exact contrary of the parties in question.
@gnu2 If a wrestler is focused on making money, solely, with no care for other people or issues, why go on TV wearing a Danhausen t-shirt rather than your own, or a pro-abortion shirt rather than just your own, or an LGBTQ+ shirt, or a SAG-AFTRA shirt on a show run by Warner and "One Bill Phil" fan David Zaslav, or speak your mind about various issues, or to coworkers, or to the boss. All this is exactly the kind of stuff you should stay well away from if solely making money is your motivation.
@gnu2 Very little of what I just cited is about the current market, but okay, I'll just go ahead and agree that he's a cynical, fake, phoney - and I'm *still* glad that this right-winger masquerading as a leftist is promoting these social causes rather than the shit his contemporaries Ben Shapiro and Nigel Farage do to get rich. Phew!
