@thomasfuchs I am actually looking for a telecope for my nephew/7y (who is into stars, black holes and such) for christmas.
I have been browsing the local small ads, which have a number of used telescopes O(50-100€) from sales tags O(200-300).
But I am unsure, if these things are reasonable in quality (even for a kid as starter equipment to play around)??

@thomasfuchs I have a scope from Vaonis and after decades of messing with very expensive reflectors and CCDs and SLRs, it’s the best thing I’ve ever bought.

@thomasfuchs Or visit a proper photographic shop...I was astonished at the range of telescopes and the relatively cheap prices when I went in recently to get myself a new camera (UK).

@thomasfuchs I was lucky in that there were members of staff who were knowledgeable...their window display was all telescopes! I was very tempted.

@thomasfuchs Tom, thanks. I’m a lifelong telescope use and builder. Back in October I decided to buy one of these just to see if I could recommend it and use it as a scope to lend folks. It’s a nice little scope, doesn’t try to do too much. 20 and 40x with the included eyepieces.
