@a1ba AsahiLinux for me effectively just means reducing e-waste, like making sure people can still use their computers even if Apple does some shit. (Or maybe if some work forces to make people use Apple machines, I'd probably either leave or go fucking expensive if that would happen though)
@eragon@a1ba Yeah, it's cool tech but it's effectively just an overblown iPad and I already have a fancy paperweight (Asus tf700t, bootloader got bricked) and some SBCs taking the dust.
You can't deny that the hardware is cool. An ARM CPU, a good GPU, good battery autonomy. A quite good cooling system. The downside are the soldered storage, ram and the absence of an M.2 slot for anything. And Asahi Linux give power over that hardware to the user. If the next gen hardware gets a little bit more upgradable (storage upgrade) I'll probably replace my laptop with an Apple Silicon laptop.
