     well, i would consider an iphone too soon honestly. Android isnt as exciting as it was, custom roms for motorola phones are now rare, and apple might allow sideloading globally someday which essentially kills android for me

     The last time I had a problem with my Xiaomi phone it was because I dropped a 35lb dumbbell on it. And that was well over a year ago now.

     not having hardware defects that randomly kill the phone? my phone has a hardware bug that if triggered means it becomes a brick. Something to do with the PMIC, and has happened to developers and users alike. I'm lucky to not have had that issue, but if I do, I'm pretty fucked. Not to mention that a lot of custom rom devs complained about the quality of the blobs for the phone, not to mention that up until the rom I'm using now, Android was pretty buggy since 12 til 14.

     @mischievoustomato @alex well, one of the big issues was the fact that the cameras didn’t work correctly (as in, the way advertised as it didn’t have the proper apertures), any form of recording was wonky as all hell, etc.

     @mischievoustomato @alex Considering the quality of the iphone 15 that I’ve seen in multiple cases, it’s absolutely overpriced. Maybe if Apple released good product, maybe I wouldn’t feel that way. :nkoShrug:

     well, i couldn't say about that one, but i consider the whole product. Great speakers, Great screen, haptics (this is one thing taht android devices are really bad at...), not to mention that apps for the iPhone seem to have a better quality, compared to android. Android apps that I consider to be of quality (this meaning, that the apps try to use new OS features, design language) are pretty few. They do exist, but are pretty few.

     that said, where credit is due, the phone is sturdy. Dropped it a lot of times, once into the toilet even, and it's still alive. But the software woes are quite annoying and that's why I'll buy a motorola next

     @mischievoustomato @marine @alex @NEETzsche All the Chinese manufacturers seem to have weird software woes. I've heard of similar issues happening to OnePlus users with a software update that causes restarts and bricks phones.

     wanplooz is worse lmao, has had issues ever since they released their first phone.
     The issues are because they have to cut corners to ship phones with good SoCs

     And, to that note. When I had phones which where committed to being mid rangers (which was the case when i used motorola), my experience with them was great. Good build quality, good enough performance, good enough software quality, bugs were essentially non existent, be it stock software or custom roms. All was nice.

     @alex Lots of followers out there. I'm reading through the thread and people are saying kids get bullied, or adults get rejected in the dating world, for having an android. Is this just redditors being dramatic?
     
     I know iPhones are a status symbol for idiots, but to actually be rejected for something like that?
