     @vriska @MercurialBuilding Ive done several exercises writing women and feel comfortable with it. Only tried because my writing friend always gave me shit for it and when I read one of his scripts the women were written so fucking badly that I just had to do better.

     @triodug @MercurialBuilding I think I probably could write men but they would just be like, versions of fictional men I find compelling, I can't put myself in the right headspace and i can't let the character live through and in me the same way with men, so while i could write a decent male, I think it would just end up being the kind of guy I'm attracted to with a few twists, and not a real person

     @MercurialBuilding Passive =/= receptive. Women just tend to exercise power in subtler ways, or redirect it. I think your character would work just fine as any gender! Although I think that's a much more relateable experience to men than it is to women

     @hidden well the point of their character is they hate life and are super passive but then learn they actually have the ability to make change and shouldn't use their terrible situation as an excuse to do nothing
     
     Which works either way.
     
     I guess in that case I'd want to keep it a girl, as if they're 'receptive' they'd have more of an excuse to be in the frame of mind originally?

     @MercurialBuilding Active vs receptive, constructed vs immanent. Everyone has both of course, and if it weren't for 4th wave feminism you could be subversive by giving someone an energy opposite of what's expected for their gender, but that's pretty cliche now.

They hyperfixate on the wrong things that separate us and make weak attempts at showing the audience that, uhm actually they totally understand the different sexes. here's a scene where a woman is crying for an hour and oh is that red in her panties????? 😱😱😱

     @MercurialBuilding @triodug the only original characters who were men I've ever RPed have just been what I described a post ago, they feel 3D and dynamic and deep but not "real", if that makes sense, because it's just a combination of two other men I didn't come up with

     Although now I kind of want to make my next ttrpg guy a dude and challenge myself to not just patchwork him together and instead let him become me
