@ryanhoulihan 00s, just no. 90s, yes, for nostalgia.

@ryanhoulihan the backstreet boys are superior to n*sync and I know I'm right
@ryanhoulihan Britney is the real queen of pop.
@ryanhoulihan technically not about the song but they should have mentioned the Barbie Girl song in the movie somehow.
@ryanhoulihan 90s/00s (and any other era) pop is shit and I can't abide any of it. But Leo Moracchioli does some real banger cover versions out of them. 🌶️
@ryanhoulihan I think I prefer the Leo rendition. 😂
@ryanhoulihan too hot take? I'm a 100% metal guy and I know I should shut the fuck up when people talk about pop music, but I can't always resist the temptation especially when asked for hot takes. 😅
Nevermore has the best version of The Sound of Silence. :blobcatreeeeeee:
@ryanhoulihan blast beat, drop tuned guitars and growled vocals. Nothing about the people.
@ryanhoulihan I have a friend who is also very much into metal. He has a much wider taste in that direction and can enjoy and appreciate BS. And we agree to disagree. I'm much more limited, or maybe my taste is wide to a different direction and I get real angry listening to anything I suspect to be pop. Got to have headphones on when getting groceries.
Toxic was one of the worst offenders back when. It was everywhere when I just wanted to blast Dimmu, In Flames, Soilwork or such.
@ryanhoulihan I decided to give the original a fair fighting change in case I've grown up. Turns out I haven't. Listened to a good quality version a couple of times eyes closed free of distractions. Apart from the surf guitar the instruments and the singing in the "airier" parts really grate on my nerves and the effects laden lyrics towards the end actually hurt.
The good parts are there, just played with the wrong instruments. :blobcatthumbsup:
(Please don't kill me 😅)
@ryanhoulihan Now we're cooking with induction.
Both songs are vaguely familiar. No doubt there was a storm in a whiskey glass about the Metallica × Gaga. Metal fans can be quite stupid fucks like that. But I guess I've listened the song back then.
Rina on the other hand. I think I've listened to that song at some point due to "surprise metal from a pop artist". I like it. Sufficiently angry. :blobcatthumbsup:
