   They didn't initially grab me, but on consideration and a revisit, The Halo Effect actually do kind of nail that Old In Flames (minus Anders) vibe.

   Plus they do a bit of that "how many riffs can this song hold" thing that I'd associate more with early DT, which is always fun.

     @tautology I think they do their really specific thing very well, which I noticed and greatly appreciated when I was in the mood for that sound.

     But at least the first album that they wrote in lockdown doesn't innovate much. Which is fine! It wasn't supposed to!

     @HauntedOwlbear I had the album on repeat listening just after it came out, but it's moved down to "oh, I recognise this". But that may be more that I've found other bands in different genres since then.

     Ranking bands that Stanne is the vocallist for, better than Grand Cadaver, worse than Dark Tranquillity.
