i have just heard the phrase “my period’s carbon footprint” and i would like to scream
why do unavoidably flawed but sometimes useful analytical frameworks inevitably get turned into weapons for shaming individuals
As well they should. I'm a low carbon emission person (haven't flown in decades, electric car, converted heating oil boiler to heat pumps) but we just did a large natural experiment called Covid on individually reducing high carbon emission behavior and it made no difference. If someone does any good at all for the purpose of getting society to change for the better then no one should really care how much individual high carbon they do.
