   @HerraBRE no, the tl;dr here is:

   1. Cruise kept using the "better than human drivers" line to justify why it is testing these cars on public streets in live traffic
   2. in two pretty important kinds of cases — holes on the street (we're talking construction, with workers inside), and kids — it was not better than human drivers.
   3. Cruise knew 2. but still kept doing 1.

   It's not that "they felt they need to do better on safety", it's that "they knew they were publicly lying about safety".

     @rysiek I know we hate corporations and distrust SV, but the tl;dr here is:

     "Internal folks at Cruise felt Cruise needed to do better to avoid hitting kids, and as a result Cruise made efforts to do better to avoid hitting kids. We are still concerned they aren't doing enough to avoid hitting kids, but no kids have been hit. Also, LOL, Cruise cars might fall in holes! We are pretty sure Cruise is still bad, because capitalism and marketing."
