"We need to find the Pathfinder. Like - right now."
If I wrote something so fucking cliche and childish, so out-of-tone with the seriousness described to this, I would be out of a job and ridiculed-

NEETzsche (neetzsche@iddqd.social)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Nov-2023 17:56:35 JST NEETzsche I took a bunch of classes like vidya storytelling etc to satisfy my humanities electives requirements in college, but also because they were kind of fun. One that I liked a lot was Game AI, which was listed as a humanity but was really more like a math class, since it was about programming Game AI, hence the name. Odd university I went to.

I was in a creative writing program at first. I went to the largest school in Texas. At the time, one of the most well respected schools. Listen to this...I was not allowed to take "videogame scriptwriting," "fantasy writing," "science fiction," etc.
When I say, as a creative writing major, I "wasn't allowed to take them," I mean it. I could sign up for the class, pay for it, do the work, and it wouldn't go towards my credits or gpa...not even as an elective. I would've simply been giving them money. You know what classes they absolutely wanted creative writing majors taking? "Queer Literature," "Literature of Latin America," "African American Literature," "Women's Literature," etc. So, I kind of dropped the idea of writing entirely. I think about it at times, but where would it even go aside from a hobby that most people think is gay. -

You can, just commenting on the fact that the game is so shit so it is painful to try and play through it.

I just want to make love to the female Turian, why did they have to put such a road block in my way?

I think that was the truly the beginning of the end of gaming in my head. Despite the propaganda rife in the original trilogy, I at least WANTED to explore the universe they created. I WANTED to hear/read every piece of dialogue in the originals.
Then, Mass Effect Andromeda came out...It was so DOA. I liked the "Cisquisition," so I had hope. It was quickly dashed. -

I was only able to get through the initial planet and the second (jungle) planet with the new alien ally race. It felt dead compared to the original series. -

NEETzsche (neetzsche@iddqd.social)'s status on Tuesday, 14-Nov-2023 18:49:33 JST NEETzsche @Svantovit I was into programming before even going to college. I went to college to satisfy credentialism and then did a bunch of other forms of value extraction as a bonus.

I should've done that. My credits are all over the place. I honestly wish I would've stayed in community college longer. It was harder than my uni courses ever were and I learned far more. I doubt they're still quality these days...NEETzsche likes this.
