   @natalie @lynne can't speak for anyone else obviously but what convinced me is that if you're declaring multiple variables then it looks weird to do int* i, *j rather than int *i, *j

     (fwiw type *var is how i write it, it makes more sense to me that way, although i'm not sure i can articulate why)
