Ahaha I feel too seen.
As a technical writer by trade, I don't write fic. For precisely this reason. The aims of fic & the aims of technical writing are diametrically opposed.

I have been seeing a shocking amount of fic that seemingly lacks the desire to be *interestingly written*. Like, bland prose, chronological order, going through and patiently explaining each character's thoughts and feelings, conversations that transfer information between them, leading to problems being resolved. Is this what sitcom fandoms are like!? Maybe i am spoiled because i have been reading some absolutely amazing stuff recently....

I imagine there are writers that can switch, but I never learned the trick. I'm extremely focused on what information the reader needs in order for them to do a thing, and find it hard to get into a headspace of taking a reader on a journey
