"Our goal with Threads is to make social content as interoperable as email. We are working on the ability for Threads to integrate with ActivityPub, the open, decentralized social networking protocol. Once that happens people will be able to enjoy the best features of Threads across platforms." https://engineering.fb.com/2023/09/07/culture/threads-inside-story-metas-newest-social-app/
@taylorlorenz I think the big question here will be around the balance of power between Threads' moderation policies and the Mastodon Server Covenant: https://joinmastodon.org/covenant
@ayoubabedrabbo@taylorlorenz Right. Similarly, I imagine fediverse servers would need to adhere to certain standards to be able to federate with Threads.
But to be clear, this listing defines the larger part of the fediverse, because if servers federate with noncompliant servers, they can face trouble.
@ntnsndr@taylorlorenz based on what I read on that page, the covenant is only to be listed in their server picker, not to join the fediverse. So they would not need to comply with the covenant.
