If you leave your browser open with a bunch of tabs while using Lightroom, expect things to take 2.5x longer. If you're using Final Cut Pro to edit video, up to 4x longer.
There's absolutely no excuse for the existence of a $1600 laptop with only 8GB of RAM. 16GB of RAM is barely adequate for running any serious desktop task these days.
@Aether But why the fuck would I only have 16 gigs of RAM?
If I want a computer with actual power, I would put in more than 16 gigs. I have 16 gigs in my computer back when I had a GTX 960. My current desktop has 128 GB of RAM, and four open slots so I can stick in another 128 if I want.
@Codeki@Aether >16 gigs in my computer back when I had a GTX 960. So like 10 or so years back, 16GB of ram was plenty for most use cases, and today it's low end? Seems like that's as much as problem with software as it is hardware. Higher res and more complex stuff is definitely a factor, but how much of this is just bloated code? I swear things were faster for regular use like 15 years back.
