     considering the direct benefits colliders have had up until now (even for the general public as we buy products produced at colliders all the time). Some metal hydrides we use for example come from colliders.

     Same :) Id rather see a collider have the funding than the military. So plenty of wasted money to go around :)

     @freemo @ErikUden also the world wide web was invented there as an aside, to facilitate research coordination.

     Sooo... If they get a humongous collider, they may have even bigger coordination problems and would make even bigger side inventions to solve them?
