   Another very large nonprofit has decided to shutter their X account. The Trevor Project ($52M revenue in 2021, 350K followers on X) :

   "The Trevor Project has made the decision to close its account on X given the increasing hate & vitriol on the platform targeting the LGBTQ community - the group we exist to serve."

   They're focusing on other corporate social media platforms. Quitting X is only the first step to social media sovereignty - but it is an important one.

     @eloquence Good. Just wish they'd come here. Maybe they could help set up a fediverse-server for use by different non-profits, like an "official" instance for any non-profit (or any within a specific field), even those that don't have the resources to set one up themselves. That would be very interesting.

     @eloquence Worth noting - they allude to a social media platform run by themselves. That is "Trevorspace": https://www.trevorspace.org/

     It seems like something that would be a good thing to federate with ActivityPub, long term. Though that would make it more of a target for harassment, it would also dramatically expand its usefulness as a community.

     Interesting, thanks for pointing that out.

     Yeah, for a space that's fundamentally about providing safety, selective federation towards only safe instances may be the only option, but I agree it would be interesting to explore.

     I do think they missed an opportunity to call it the Trevorverse.

     If anyone knows anyone within the #TrevorProject, they need to get them set up with an account on here, so they can cross-post whatever they'd be posting there.
