Ap-“privacy is a human right”-ple takes roughly 36 times the amount of money that Mozilla does (~18 billion a year) from Google but if Google stopped paying Apple tomorrow it would still exist, and exist as a trillion-dollar company. If Apple stopped paying Mozilla tomorrow, Mozilla would cease to exist tomorrow. So think in terms of power relationships and you might see why someone might use Safari.

@steve_zeke @mlibby @konstantin Yeah, we live in a sewer. I wish I had a better alternative for you. I don’t. Firefox is as good as it gets under capitalism.
(There is GNOME Web but I keep trying every new version and never seem to be able to use it as my main browser for more than a few hours. What we need is an independent organisation funded with our taxes that makes a browser for the common good. Won’t be holding my breath though.)

I understand that, but as things are now I can choose my browser by other criteria. If Mozilla were to cease to exist tomorrow and took FF down with it, I would be sad and look for a replacement. On Linux Safari isn't a choice anyway. Until then... it's Firefox. Since you have some expertise I was wondering if you had a better choice, one that would work with Linux.
