   Dread (the REEEEEdit clone for the Tor network) was being DDoS'd for a while, and now it's back with a literally impossible to solve Captcha.
   You have only 1 minute to solve, and even if you solve it in 3 seconds, you'll still get an error saying that it took too long to solve, because it'll always take more than 5 minutes to send and receive requests, because the Tor network is so slow.
   
   So I guess they just killed the entire soyte just to prevent a DDoS attack...

     @nk You can't even install Cuckflare on an Onion site, considering the installation process involves changing name service.
     And Onion sites are never managed by DNS servers.

     @nk Besides, Cuckflare doesn't even protect you from DDoS attacks, it's rather that when you or someone else using the soyvice is getting DDoS'd, all websoytes that are Cuckflared will go down at the same time, and we have seen this multiple times before already too.

     @lina @nk It happened a few times before, yes.
     For example, when Discucked, Matrix, almost all crypto exchanges or other crypto related soyvices, almost all of alt-tech, multiple Fedi instances, and so on were unreachable at the same time following kami-sama knows what happened, because centralization.

     @lina @nk @ryo On non-enterprise plans it just gets turned off when a traffic volume exceeds some amount. I think it even exposes the real server's IP on free plans.

     @nk Not using soyware (there's literally no reason at all for a web blog to take up many gibibytes of RAM and CPU power), having fiber internet, and having decent enough hardware is the only true way of protecting against DDoS.
