narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: (hj@shigusegubu.club)'s status on Tuesday, 07-Nov-2023 07:35:02 JST narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: @izaya @mel bits tend to make the screwdriver thicker, which limits its application in tight spaces, on the opposite spectrum sometimes you need two screwdrivers or just a very big one (or in case of hex heads, an allen key), and sometimes you just need a piece of metal to scrape something off or short some pins, or pick something, in all of which cases those excel. -

Minnie Mel (mel@poofy.hair)'s status on Tuesday, 07-Nov-2023 07:35:04 JST Minnie Mel I was reading some reddit posts from Leatherman employees and it was interesting to hear the designers say that most focus groups have no use for the bit drivers.
Apparently, most people only need flathead and phillips screwdrivers, and the swappable bit thingy is only of value to a small niche.
Their removable bit driver extender that slips over the phillips head and holds 1/4" bits is more than adequate for "exotic screws"
I have to agree
