   🔌 Went to Bunnings to get various cord organiser thingies, including some cable covers. So now I can tidy up some messy cables and make my home look even cosier

   🏇 Unofficial 4-day weekend thanks to stupid horse race. Bad for horses and gambling addicts, but good for me.

   🦵 Slight soreness in leg muscles reminds me that I've been able to walk more than usual, yay! I miss the long walks I was talking every day when I had more energy & time than I do now.

     Melbourne has a public holiday every year for the Melbourne Cup horse race, which always happens on the first Tuesday in November.

     Some other cities in the state have public holidays for their own big horse races, too.

     I just learned that it's been a public holiday since 1877.

     @lookitmychicken I lived in Louisville Kentucky for a while (home of the Kentucky Derby) and we liked to talk about how it was the school district in the world that canceled school for a horse race...but it sounds like that might not be the case. Does your whole town shut down for the horse race or just your particular job?
