    It's really interesting to me how these magic anti-radiation stickers, look a little like a wireless charging coil... And are even placed like one on a phone... using a real technology to add realism to the fake. They also look like the maze of the Minotaur. (I have a thing for things that blend old and new graphic forms like this... and I'm fascinated by scam products. )

    I guess the radiation gets lost in the maze.

      @Woodchaz @futurebird

      Maybe greenwashing? It's easy to fall for promises of helping the environment when companies hide their actual environmental impact and sell themselves as our great green saviors.

      It's especially frustrating when the movement leads us to focus on individual action instead of advocating for systemic changes. I can buy carbon offsets for every year of my life; it doesn't fix the natural gas power plant 20 miles from here (and the "offsets" are often scammy anyway).

      "That feeling that the scam that is tailored to your world view is invisible."

      That is disturbing. What was targeted at me that am I not seeing? Everyone thinks they can't be fooled, even people who write checks to people like Swaggart every month.

      I think scam products like this fascinate me because of that creeping feeling that "seeing through" a scam can give you. That feeling that the scam that is tailored to your world view is invisible. You think it's technology, or science, or common sense. Of course, it works. But, perhaps someone else would look at it and just see a silly magic amulet.
