   I was at the Real Camera shop in Manchester and saw a Mamiya medium format camera in person. I wish I had the 800 pounds to drop on it 😅 Bought an amber lens filter instead to see if I can get better colors in this weather.

     How much would a single photo cost in terms of negatives and development? On top of the camera.

     @kennykravitz @knud A good scanner comes at a pretty high cost from what I gather, so I have them scanned at the lab.

     @knud @Gargron It can vary tremendously depending on the film, the lab and whether you want prints, scans or both. Even the camera, too - a TLR will typically give you 12 6x6 shots per roll of 120 film, but other cameras will get you 16 (6x4.5) or only 8 (6x9).

     Assuming a TLR and medium res scans on Ilford HP5+ film, you're looking at around £1.60 per shot at the lab I use.

     @knud @Gargron But if you're into it, you can bring the cost way down. I develop my own black and white at home. Colour is a bit trickier, so I send that away but save money by not having prints and scanning the negatives myself.

     Having said that, I'm sitting on a stash of about a dozen undeveloped rolls dating back to pre-covid so I'm not exactly on top of it these days!

     I had my grandfather's 35mm Leica refurbished, but never went out again for b/w photography. Needs exposure meter, development, etc. Digital is just soooo convenient 😞

     @knud @kennykravitz Your phone can act as an exposure meter, which is what I’m using for now. Can’t compare it to a dedicated light meter though as I’ve never held one in my hands.

     @Gargron You probably already know this, but the Mamiyaflex twin lens medium format cameras are extra cool because they have interchangeable lenses, or at least, mine did.
