Shake, shake, shaking the corporate client tree for expertise.
C'mon, you're spending 8 or 9 digits a year on cloudification, you must have someone good at taking disk images off ancient hardware....

@johnefrancis Is this where I get to pull out my example of how, as a summer student, in 3 weeks I did the job of a dozen-person department, with perl? Taking a 250 hour ETL process down to like... 40-60? And I did this in my spare time. Pro-tip: don't do your EBCDIC->ASCII conversion on the legacy hardware, while the multicore DB server is waiting.
Probably 60-80 lines of perl.
@johnefrancis “nobody understands EBCDIC”
@mWare not THAT old. I doubt a mainframe cloud migration through IBM can be done within 9 figures anyway.
@mWare seems like a very good outcome. I hope they gave you the mainframe after.
Who wouldn't want to have a super-cool set of closet doors taken from an old mainframe cabinet?

@johnefrancis y’Also know I have a Sun E450 for a nighttable? Still looking for another to make a matched set.
GF is less on board with this plan.
