   @engravecavedave @thor A person who has taken on liability and acquired assets for it is at net zero. Do they not understand this?

   Paying interest on the mortgage is a cost, but paying back on the principal is not, it's equally reducing assets and liabilities.

   It's very different from someone having only liabilities, and that's before even looking at cash flow, liquidity, credit score, etc.

     @thor I had friends who did that as well. Some people do not really grasp poverty. I was complaining to my friend once about being poor and she replied with, "I just bought a flat and am €300,000 in debt and you don't have any dept at all so you're richer than me"

     Little did she know I had spent 3 days without food that week because I had no money

     your average person looks at my debt and says "that's nothing compared to my mortgage"

     yeah but you have a steady income and access to credit. shut the fuck up.
