     @skaly So let me take this opportunity to state with my whole chest: I will never be ashamed for condemning war crimes or the slaughter of innocent civilians no matter who is carrying out the atrocity.

     Let those who justify this brutality be ashamed.

     I’m going to leave you with @timnitGebru’s thread on genocide denial. Born Turkish, it’s an area I have some first-hand knowledge in also (many Turks deny the Armenian genocide):

     @funkyduck @aral @skaly simply not true. Genocide is a legal term, not an opinion. It’s so clearly genocide that a UN official, one of the people in charge of deciding what is genocide, resigned because western and European countries are enabling genocide & it makes them feel hopeless.

     @aral @skaly you need to be close to the action to have an opinion - as long as you're not a palestinian or paying literally any attention to palestinians. that's too close, you'll be biased.

     1. The Jewish Currents ran a piece blaming German Islamophobia on oversensitivity to Jewish concerns. When the war started the editor was shocked, shocked so many of his colleagues justified the massacre.

     2. Killing 0.4% of the population of Gaza would not be called genocide in any other setting. You bring up Gebru (who seems most concerned for the safety of US students who signed a letter justifying the massacre); she compares Gaza (death toll: ~9,000) to Tigray (380,000-600,000).
