I just finished a script that reads fields from a csv file, copies and renames libreoffice writer templates into a client's file, and enters data from the csv file into those documents, so I can produce entire estate plans while I put away groceries. And I just sent a client a draft produced using the script.
Work smarter, not harder.

I replaced like 5 people at work doing something like that. There's a lot of empty desks at my job now but at least people aren't as bored and get to do the actual things they trained for.

It's a simple script too. Only about 200 lines, half of which is a menu that has that old school bbs feel. I used a counter loop to sequentially read the csv rows. It can date the documents too.

Me too. I've been trying to reduce my litigation work for years and play more of an advisor / contract and estate prep role. The courts are fucked. Just saying.

We don't have any formal term or license that separates those who practice in courts vs. those that don't. Plus, it's a mixed role. If a client I regularly advise has or needs litigation, I often get dragged in. They want me.

I kind of assumed most lawyers worked as advisors and solicitors rather than... whatever barristors are called over there.
