When the killing starts, suffering begins:
- You hide or flee.
- You burn stuff to cook anything that is remotely eatable.
- You combine bottles to distillate drinking water - even from your pee.
- You dream of hygiene.
- You don't know how to burry all the dead or identify them.
- You become emotionally numb and take risks.
Hamas was prepared for this war, everybody else not.

No. The point about infrastructure access shows it's not *fair* or *symmetrical* warfare, but of course it *is* war.
One could say "it's not war, it's far worse" or "it's not war, it's a massacre".
But saying *only* "it's not a war" sounds like you're *downplaying* it, which I hope is not your intention.

@ryanhoulihan 2006. The year after Israel left them to their own devices because of the amount of hate towards Israel. Then they elect Hamas with the stated goal of the destruction of Israel and have done nothing but throw hate towards Israel since. No negotiating in good faith. What does it take to get a community to stop hating and try peace? Stopping the flow of money from Iran and other terrorist countries would make a difference.

Israel wasn't clever. They relied too much on their electronic wall; so when the Hamas turned off the data connections, Israeli defence was blind and deaf. Then Hamas went to kill over 1000 civilians and some 300 soldiers.
Everybody else knows that the first thing to target in a war is the enemy's communications and energy supply.
Now Israel is learning that from Hamas. An expensive lesson.
