Coyote (coyote@social.singing.dog)'s status on Friday, 27-Oct-2023 14:34:06 JST Coyote @Inginsub @PurpCat @RustyCrab @vicious @swurl There’s a central server, the BGS, that collects content from instances, PDS, and passes it along to other servers to curate for those instances. Theoretically, you could host your own BGS, but you’d have to convince other people to connect to it. From what I understand, it’s like a mandatory relay.

:ihavenomouth: (inginsub@clubcyberia.co)'s status on Friday, 27-Oct-2023 14:34:07 JST :ihavenomouth: @swurl @RustyCrab @PurpCat @vicious so, there is a central authority that curates the content, and "instances" that can only choose which content to subscribe to? Am I reading this right? -

Pawlicker (purpcat@clubcyberia.co)'s status on Friday, 27-Oct-2023 14:34:12 JST Pawlicker @Inginsub @vicious @RustyCrab they're claiming it's coming next year but the network looks like a total clusterfuck and there's no idea of hosting instances.
Also there's the same privacy though hoping nodes respect blocks, deletes, etc mindset here too. -

Swurl (swurl@swurl.land)'s status on Friday, 27-Oct-2023 14:34:12 JST Swurl @PurpCat@clubcyberia.co @Inginsub@clubcyberia.co @vicious@clubcyberia.co @RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co it operates on a weird model where "servers" are aggregators and serve you curated timelines. They will always own the actual publishing servers so they can control content and serve ads
