   My second K5(8) has arrived and it's different to my first. My suspicion about sound changes were right, wasn't expecting the aluminium metal backing plate to be magnesium now.

     @tk Ironically, the K5(8) is sold as a K6 by some sellers. Same radio though.
     
     My first AMD exposure was a 1.2GHz Duron, just outside of when the K6-3 was around. Before that I had a 900MHz Intel Celeron and a 400MHz Pentium II (my only slot CPU system). I was spoiled with a 33.6K dial-up connection that cut out every two hours. I fondly remember it taking 20 minutes to download the AoE:RoR demo.
     
     But I digress.
