      Note, this is an absolutely huge scoop. Kudos to ABC.

      BUT: To test why it is coming out requires the dates of Meadows' testimony. Meadows' testimony in DC is ... unreliable, but useful, to Jack Smith. But given GA, Meadows may not be able to rely on that.

      For everyone asking how big the Meadows news is:

      On a scale of 1-10? 15.5

      He doesn’t just know where all the bodies are buried—he helped carry most of them.

      Here's some shit that is important for people to know.

      1) There's NO evidence that Mark Meadows flipped. There's some reason to believe his DC testimony was not entirely forthcoming. His GJ testimony may be the same GJ testimony in April we already knew about.

      2) Matt Gaetz--the guy who kicked off the entire crisis in GOP leadership--set Emmer up to be shivved by Donald Trump. (more....)

      Indeed, the article indicates he has been given only “use immunity” and it may have been for grand jury testimony we already knew about. That’s not “flipping.”

      Emptywheel:

      This is a distinction people are missing. Other people--like NV's GOP Chair--were given use immunity. After that, they went on to rig the state primary for Trump.

      One by one, "moderate" leaders--especially those who voted to support the constitution--are being picked off by this process.

      3) At a campaign appearance last night, Trump said he didn't need votes, he needed people to question the counting of the vote in 2025 AND ALSO told the world, including Vladimir Putin, that the US would leave NATO under his watch.

      @Edelruth @William3rd @GottaLaff "use immunity" seems to be this: we may still prosecute you, but we won't use your words against you, so speak up

      @clacke @GottaLaff @William3rd @Teri_Kanefield

      Thanks. Yes, I read Teri's explanation and I feel I have a better understanding of why both sides would choose it: the suspect cannot claim the 5th, and the prosecution gets the truth, and if it is not the truth, then the suspect looses the immunity.

      Eggshells everywhere.
