The "great founding fathers" were a bunch of alcoholic tyrant bigots and if you wax your dick to how "awesome" they were, you're deluded, insane, and deserve modern American government.
@mrman nah bro. No way enough people wake up. Maybe a few areas, but the government will eventually take everyone's guns and come in and just kill everyone who resists. They tried with Sandy Hook, only a matter of time until they succeed; the power only grows.
Genuine shame I'm not religious or I'd join the Amish. It would make coping with the whole ordeal a lot easier.
I have kids and the current state of affairs causes me genuine distress. Localized jury nullification is all that's left.
@mrman I've added The Quash to my rotation, yeah. I dunno which of you here introduced me to his podcast, but it was a great recommendation. One of the few sane voices on American Government structure. He and I are on the same wavelength for sure.
Whatever romanticized idea you have about them in your head is a fantasy.
They were normal people just like you and me, but they decided to form a centralized government with no long-term checks to constraining its ever-growing power.
They did this in secret meetings for which the notes were not released for 30 years after the fact.
Nobody affirmatively consented to this except the signatories, certainly not generations later.
They considered blacks sub-human. They had slaves.
@mrman no way we are at critical mass. We have bread and circuses. Imagine what it looks like once my generation is grown up. All they know is processed food, mystique of 9/11, video games, porn, and reddit. There's plenty of bread, and plenty of circuses.
It's all fucked dude. There's just no way. They have centralized messaging (social media), centralized violence, and centralized food distribution ((inter)national chains).
The water's hot, but the frog's still a ways away from dead.
@eriner I think we might be at a critical mass. You don't need everyone to be awake. But a motivated 5 to 15 percent can make implementation very difficult. There are a lot who will never wake up but they are almost irrelevant
@chromeratt I've given this a lot of thought. Genuinely agonized over it.
I think having a monarchy may be better than our current system of government.
At least then every so often you get someone who doesn't want the job and gives you a few years of relative prosperity until they're murdered by their brother.
They're all greedy, prideful cowards for not abdicating the throne and declaring the whole thing evil, but I think between the two I'd take monarchy.
