something to note about representation on the fediverse. as much as gargron is jokingly called "the CEO of Mastodon" this place isn't a commercial venture, really. John Mastodon might develop the most popular software on the net, but he doesn't control all of the servers that make it up. ⬅️ this is important.
because of how the fediverse works, this is what you need to do to gain representation. you have to create your own servers and start getting people from your own community to join. often this means soft-forking the software to make it work better for your needs.
its a lot easier for wealthy hobbyists to do this because running these servers isn't cheap, but be aware that mastodon is on the heavy end. going with something like akkoma or firefish or foundkey can save a lot of money. (its been a few years, but i have run an old version of akkoma on a rpi3)
