@openfuture@glynmoody@paulk Here’s hoping your paper has more impact that the two talks I gave at the EU Parliament urging them to fund work like ours from the commons and to try to get them them understand that public space on a digital network is not a *place* owned by a corporation like Facebook or Xitter, it is sum total of the interconnections between individually-owned and controlled places.
@openfuture@glynmoody@paulk (In all our years of working for the common good and currently on the Small Web, Small Technology Foundation we has received exactly zero euros of EU funding for our work. I’ve actually stopped trying. It’s a waste of time. Instead I’m working to ensure the Small Web can be sustainable under our current, less-than-ideal (to put it mildly) system *and* provide a bridge to a better one.
@openfuture@glynmoody@paulk (Of course, once it launches, I’m sure we’ll be able to get funding for new features, etc., or just because – especially if people start using it – they’ll be afraid of being seen as irrelevant or missing out. But a bit too late then, no? Where were you when we actually needed you at the beginning?)
