     @Gargron OpenAI also briefly blocked ChatGPT in Italy instead of complying with privacy laws. They hoped to flip the table and start a popular uprising, but it didn't work and they simply had to comply.

     @Gargron Been saying he should have already done it a long time ago already. Let them make their own network. EU thinks they can just run the world. GDPR for websites what/who? Not advicaging for Musk especially after my Twitter account was suspended, but EU is no hero.

     Good riddance if it's true, but I doubt that Xitter can afford to lose hundreds of millions of users. Sounds more like Musk blowing off some fetid gas.

     As to why more politicians and journalists don't leave, I suspect it's because they put engagement above ethical values.

     In the meantime, I am trapped on the hellsite because my suspension makes it logistically impossible to delete the account. If anyone knows a way round this, I would be grateful for the information.

     No, sir, there's no DMs! "Private mentions" are just simply posts that is available to some specific people mentioned in!

     Look at Pleroma. Pleroma have DMs implemented, just similar to Twitter's (to have full experience you will have to install/try Pleroma with Soapbox FE installed, like seal.cafe ) and Mastodon's "DMs" are NOTHING compared to it.

     Eugen have to develop "DMs", the real ones this time, similar to Twitter's, Pleroma's (+Soapbox's too!).

     Another great example is Friendica.

     While Pleroma have DMs made to be chats (like in Twitter) - Pixelfed too - Friendica just took "Private mentions" Mastodon's feature, and re-designed it in a similar way to chats, and re-named it to "Messages".

     But for me, I think, would be better to implement DMs as chats, you know? Like on Twitter and Pleroma.

     1. "Private Mentions" is......is just a simply fucking posts, but limited to only specific users to view!

     2. Have you been a Twitter user/Pleroma+Soapbox FE user/Friendica user?

     2.1. Those are social media that gives the DMs the best look.

     3. No, Matrix (why on the Earth do people keep suggesting it with its broken somewhat "E2EE", when you can't restore your DMs, if you unable to?????), even Matrix doesn't gives the look I would like to have. Come on man, just check out Twitter's way on designing DMs. Alex Gleason (founder of Soapbox FE) took it and now Pleroma instances that are using stable last versions of it, are having DMs to look like....I have no idea to say it in other ways, but......just like chats!

     Long story short: DMs in #Mastodon should look like DMs in Twitter!

     (And yes, I still call it #Twitter , not #X !)

     Friendica and Pleroma (stable versions + installed Soapbox FE) are only those #Fediverse social media that did DMs to look more like DMs from Twitter.

     To me DMs mean like DMs in Twitter. Otherwise, I don't consider it as DMs.

     @thanius my suggestion for #Mastodon devs:

     1. Move the "Private Mentions" from sidebar to "Notifications".

     2. Rename "Mentions" tab to "Public mentions" and then add there another tab called, of course "Private Mentions".

     3. Make the "Privacy Mentions" tab to be the same one as the "Public mentions" but the difference is those mentions are privated.

     That's it!

     I'm not that much anonymous-focused - I'm #privacy - focused instead.

     I don't think that I need E2EE - just don't track /online-fingerprint me while I'm surfing the Net :-)
