If you know other curation sources would be happy to list them?
I'm trying to encourage as many human-run curation accounts as possible.

I can only recommend accounts that exist?
Their current timeline has posts about Polish election results and civilian deaths in Gaza, so I think "General news from a US perspective" is more appropriate than "US news", and have edited the original post to reflect this.
@feditips @David that’s not the point. The point is that if a feed consists exclusively or even mainly of AMERICAN news, it should be called “US news”, not “general news”. So far, the Fediverse has not been a US-centric place, and that’s a delight. Let’s preserve that, not change it.
I am not American, I have never been to America, and I have no connection to America.
@feditips What @IPEdmonton says.
Please recommend what you want, this is not the issue. The issue is assuming that the US is the only country that exists, basically.
Not even a joke: Do you know how I recognize Americans on the Fediverse? They're the only ones who don't say what country they're from (because in their mind, there is no need, there's only one country in the world, right?)
I think mentioning what countries the accounts you recommend are from will go a long way.
@feditips @David you can indeed only recommend accounts that exist, but you can also be careful in how you call a feed, by not promoting the idea that US-based things are somehow “general” or the default. Thanks for making this change.
@feditips @David then it should be easy fix you to make this change! 😀
For what it’s worth, I AM technically American (though I haven’t lived there in decades), and I have plenty of connections to the country. Recovery from societally induced US-centrism is difficult, but possible.
I had already done this on their entries on fedi.directory:
https://fedi.directory/?s=flipboard
I even had a conversation at the time with Flipboard about how to describe their service, as they work online and have workers in other countries too. We settled on US-based.
It's just a bit difficult to fit everything in a 500 char post.
