I drew this very graph on my blackboard two weeks ago, and I just stumbled upon it online.

My students were shocked, they had no idea. We could argue that it's because they're Japanese and they don't know American history. That is true. But how many other billion people don't know this? And worse, how many Americans don't know this?

Don't let anyone tell you the US is not a racist country to its core, and probably always will be.

I wanted to like #PixelFed and I did, but then the main developer decided to join the silly bandwagon of people who want the #fediverse to be a walled garden where we'll all whither together instead of a fediverse striving with the rest of the world, so I guess it means I'm out. I was looking for a replacement, when I realized that, silly me, I have a website where I can post pics and, guess what? It's part of the fediverse too thanks to the amazing #ActivityPub plugin for #Wordpress!

Please recommend what you want, this is not the issue. The issue is assuming that the US is the only country that exists, basically.

Not even a joke: Do you know how I recognize Americans on the Fediverse? They're the only ones who don't say what country they're from (because in their mind, there is no need, there's only one country in the world, right?)

I think mentioning what countries the accounts you recommend are from will go a long way.

Could you mention that @NewsDesk is not "news" but "US News" (and it sadly doesn't make me want to check the other ones).

This "US" as the default country thing maybe and sadly was the norm on Twitter, but it has no place in the Fediverse.
You of all people should be mindful of that.

Meanwhile, in #Japan, the current #Covid wave is as bad as the Delta variant wave (the only official data left is the number of hospital admissions) and more and more people act as if it was over.

@atomicpoet Chris, I've been thinking more and more about running my individual instance (possibly FireFish). You said that it should be possible with #SpaceHost soon. What I'm unsure about is the technical skills required.

I have run several Wordpress sites over the years so that I can do, but as soon as coding is involved, I'm lost (and the hosting side of Wordpress I can only manage thanks to CPanel but I need my host's help from time to time if something too weird happens).
