     @kaia isn't their ad revenue like $1/1000 views? (if that since youtube's gone nuts with demonizing and probably cut down that since). If I threw a single dollar to their patreon I'd pay for like a lifetime of my views. I know youtube premium or whatever is a thing but I feel like creators don't see any of that money, i'd be more inclined to pay per view of creators of content I actually like

     I create stuff, because I'm interested in how it works and what I can do with it. Where are no ads to pay for my interests.
     OpenSource projects also don't live from ads. Ok, Firefox has a deal with Google. Google is the default search engine and they pay for it. But most projects live from contributors and companies who value the project. Or the benefits they get from the project.

     Ads are used to undermine privacy, to distribute malware and to increase overconsumption.

     What Linus tech tips means: Ads are the backbone of ad driven creators.
     If you value your viewers, give them ad free content.

     @kaia If I am never going to click on an ad, then I am costing everyone in the industry money by letting ads load and it is costing me money in electricity to see the ad. It is more ethical for me to block them completely, and save everyone electricity and money.

     Because at the end of the day, those are the best websites, they're made with care.
     
     Unlike LTT's channel who had to get a massive drama-callout some months ago to stop shoving broken information due to a stupid churn. :)

     Adblockers actually protect you against scams, phishing sites, other hazards. It's not just about "not wanting to see ads".
