Because line 50 and 51 were not built as metro. They were snel tram. In fact as recently as 2017 the lift at Sloterdijk said "perron sneltram".
Noord Zuid line needed the technology to bore a tunnel through swamp. That's why the original lines were cut and cover.

Because before the ov chipkaart you could use strippenkaart on the train from Sloterdijk to Amsterdam Centraal. So there was no need to add metro to the same route cos the rail served it. Ov chipkaart broke this. Would be better to continue isolatoweg to Noord.

Sorry but line 52 is often standing room only, and not just rush hour. On Saturday afternoons. On weekdays at lunchtime. Standing room only. Same often on line 50 and 51. I agree they need to up the frequency. But smaller trains are not the solution.

Quixoticgeek (quixoticgeek@social.v.st)'s status on Sunday, 15-Oct-2023 04:12:19 JST Quixoticgeek Listening to @notjustbikes latest "Urbanist agenda" about the Amsterdam metro. And I keep tutting and shaking my head at the areas where the lack of research is showing through. They totally ignore a lot of the issues about the history of how we got the metro network we did. Come on Jason, you can do better than this. Happy to meet up and fill in some gaps.
