   It is simply not possible to evacuate over one million people in 24 hours from the zone of attack in Gaza. The answer to horrific atrocities by Hamas cannot be collective punishment upon an entire population, 50 percent of which are children.

     @georgetakei the entire Western foreign policy with regards the state of Israel and Palestinians is just horribly flawed. It's no surprise the general treatment of every humanitary crisis only makes conditions worse and worse. Zero common sense, no serious effort to make things a bit better from those in power (Israel, the US, the UK). Can we seriously expect hatred from Palestinians to ease anytime soon? How can everyone feel safe from extremists like that? No one successfully deals with extremism in this manner. This is the result of decades of "dealing with extremism": it's a total failure.

     @georgetakei These 1 mln people had years to overthrow militants from power. Now they have a simple "choice" coming from years of choice they made yearly:
     1️⃣ try to free hostages and give them to Israeli authorities, overthrowing Hamas militants from power in process. Chance of survival is 50%
     2️⃣ try to run, chance for survival is 50%
     3️⃣ stay and wait, and have 0️⃣ (zero) chance for survival.

     @georgetakei Israel being Israel, Hamas being the response. Terrible all around. Worse that the US supports Israel's slow genocide of the Palestinian people to generate the Hamas. Much like how the US ended up creating Salafist and eventually it became Al-Qaida. A perfect excuse to waltz in and commit attrocities when you've raise enemies and done monstrous things to them. Neither side is right, but responsibility and acknowledgment...are completely gone from US and Israel public statements.

     @georgetakei The cruelty is the point. Israel has been fully engaged in a genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people since the day the UN dropped them off in 1947 and said "here ya go, now play nice." There is evidence that Netanyahu actually *gave funding* to Hamas to facilitate their actions in order to have an excuse to launch a full-scale invasion of Gaza. This "evacuation" isn't just a violation of international law, it's a goddamn war crime.

     @georgetakei trouble is their religious book teaches them ‘an eye for an eye….’ It’s bloody barbaric. The other problem being that the Islamic faith is also Abrahamic so has many of the same barbaric beliefs. It’ll not end well for those on the ground, be they Palestinian or Jewish.
