     @fuggy What probably would have happened is that Apple would have ended up just as proprietary with the help of Linus, while GNU would have gone and perfected GNU/Hurd.

     He didn't, Linux it was proprietary software when he released it in 1991.
     He did make it free software in 1992, but it went back to proprietary is 1996, when the first piece of proprietary software was added.
