Jim | WT8P (wt8p@mastodon.hams.social)'s status on Sunday, 01-Oct-2023 12:22:24 JST Jim | WT8P @ryanhoulihan When I bought my iPad, there were free trials (longer than the normal period) that came with the device. Once these expire, the monthly rate takes over. The other way to get it is if you're part of someone's "family," and they subscribe.
Best way to check is to tap on the subscriptions and see if it has an expiry date listed.

Laura J Mixon (laurajmg@wandering.shop)'s status on Sunday, 01-Oct-2023 23:46:50 JST Laura J Mixon @ryanhoulihan With the last several OS upgrades Apple has offered free Apple Music subscriptions for x months. IIRC, one time you didn’t get the chance to opt out. Your Apple “family” would’ve been signed up automatically.
I could be muddling the signup details, but I do recall seeing something like that within the last several months. As I understood it, it was a 6(?)-mo free subscription.
