     No shade on the capable senior, but where's the succession planning? I don't know of ANY alternative candidate at this point.

     @ryanhoulihan Depends on their role in politics. Why shouldn't people dying of old age have representation in our representative democracy? But just like we expect people to retire from an active role in society, they probably should do the same in politics.

     @ryanhoulihan @jautero One serious great failing of the modern US Congress is the the omission of career politicians in choosing and mentoring successors. This once was a tradition, and it should be again to keep our government connected to the people it purports to represent.
