Yeah. Only way to avoid it is to get into "gifted" programs, but a lot of places have recently been scrapping those because of "muh equity."

It's mostly busy work that only white kids actually do because you have to teach at a pace suitable for "certain" demographics.

very true. high school could easily be cut in half and nothing of value would be lost. most kids dredge their way through it anyway, not remembering most of what was said. cutting the time in half but increasing quality, would undeniably be better for everyone.

If you're doing sports, you don't get out until 6 pm. By the time you get home and finish dinner, you're at 7 pm. An "hour's worth" can very easily take up nearly all your downtime if you work slower than what's expected. It's not impossible, but if you're trying to be a high achiever kid to get into a good college, you're going to be incredibly busy. High School was more demanding than college easily and in general is stupidly grindy and leaves little time for hobbies and leisure.
