the one thing i wont forgive gmail for is when they turned off the ability to just confirm using an email address that was simply a forwarding address by sending an email to that address which would bounce back to you and just clicking yes i own this email address.
like all that did is give GoDaddy permission to start charging absurd prices for any email account.

my life of helping tech illiterate companies and groups set up websitse and email addresses since then has gone from something that was the easiest and chill thing to being this horrendous game of whack-a-mole where ill set them up with a good local hosting service who actually gives great customer care and free email accounts, and oh look GoDaddy just bought them out and is demanding $6 a month for each email account.

@pagrus its just the problem of setting up emails for like 5 people in a theatre company, its impossible and they cant afford to pay for email

@siege@octodon.social I like paying for an email provider, partly because of that and hopefully so they don't feel obligated to turn to some horrible adtech bullshit for revenue. Maybe I'm fooling myself but that is why I am fond of migadu
