      @goatsarah @RichardJMurphy @JohnDal @grayface_ghost In further evidence of how necessary it is: Germany, has by far the smallest amount of new lines for its high speed rail and also has the most delays and most overcrowded trains of those 4 countries by some distance.

      Modern railway passenger numbers need new lines.

      "The United Kingdom is not a serious country." True. When @pluralistic speaks of the enshittification of internet commerce, I think that the term applies to pretty much the whole of the UK. And it isn't going to change (in a positive direction) any time soon.
